About this beach

At low tide Porthtowan beach is long and sandy, stretching from Lushington Cove to Chapel Porth. At high tide it becomes a large cove type beach that is steeply shelving and is backed by small sand dune system. Porthtowan beach is popular  for bathing. It is also a popular surfing spot in the area. There is good access to the beach and a large public car park.
