About this station
Longhope lifeboat station has operated an all weather lifeboat for over 130 years and the crews have been honoured with 26 awards for gallantry. The station has also witnessed tragedy when eight lifeboat crew lost their lives saving others at sea in 1969.

A former Olympian PATRICK WINTERTON and former British kayaking champion MICK BERWICK will attempt to make the first kayak crossing from Scotland to the Faroe Islands unsupported in June. Few have tried, no one, as yet, has succeeded.
