The Brawn Lifeboat Challenge

The Brawn Lifeboat Challenge has now come to a close. Formula One mastermind Ross Brawn has inspired a team of UK businesses to power their way to raising an impressive £360,000 in just eight months.

Ten teams from some of the UK’s top companies competed against one another using their creativity and ingenuity to raise the most money for the RNLI.

The teams successfully smashed the £350,000 target. The money will buy London a new lifeboat to be shared between Chiswick and Tower RNLI lifeboat stations. The lifeboat will be named ‘The Brawn Lifeboat Challenge’ and it is anticipated that it will be on service in early 2012.

At a special awards evening held in London, Ross announced the overall total and the team who raised the largest amount – the team from Zurich. They will now attend the European Grand Prix in Valencia as special guests of Ross.

Jo Dunsford, RNLI National Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: 'The RNLI is hugely grateful to both Ross Brawn and all the teams that took part in the challenge.  It was a new way of fundraising for us and we were extremely impressed by the commitment and enthusiasm of all those who took part.'
